Since 2014, the “Allergy-friendly communities” have been under the auspices of the German Spas Association (Deutscher Heilbäderverband e.V., DHV): The DHV supports spas and health resorts in becoming allergy-friendly, so that people with allergies can find verified offers for all types of accommodation, restaurants, and grocery stores. To date, around 110 holiday apartments, six hotels, one youth hostel and four shops have been certified. With a total of 1,703 beds, the North Sea island of Borkum has a large number of certified offers suitable for allergy-friendly holidays.
