With its exceptionally clean air, rich in iodine and aerosols, and low pollen count, Borkum offers its guests ideal conditions for a healthy and relaxing holiday. The best prerequisites, in other words, for Borkum to become the first allergy-friendly island in Europe to be certified with the ECARF Seal of Quality for allergy-friendliness!

Since 2014, the “Allergy-friendly communities” have been under the auspices of the German Spas Association (Deutscher Heilbäderverband e.V., DHV): The DHV supports spas and health resorts in becoming allergy-friendly, so that people with allergies can find verified offers for all types of accommodation, restaurants, and grocery stores. To date, around 110 holiday apartments, six hotels, one youth hostel and four shops have been certified. With a total of 1,703 beds, the North Sea island of Borkum has a large number of certified offers suitable for allergy-friendly holidays. For a better quality of life despite allergies – for a healthier life for everyone!
